Report
C.T.P. (Centro Territoriale
Permanente) is a state structure for lifelong learning comprised of
a director and teachers who teach literacy for foreigners , computer
courses, English and other languages, and make-up courses for middle
school diploma.Each facility is independent to project their courses
based on the needs of their territory.Who can apply? Anyone from the
age of 15 and up.The area of Casale Monferrato has an agricultural
economy of high quality products and high technological industry. Therefore,
the companies look for qualified personnel. Until now, here there haven’t
been any night school courses to obtain a high school diploma. Moreover,
the E.U. requires every country to have at least 80% of its population
graduates from high school with diploma by 2010.In Italy, we have only
47%.
Our school has decided
to organize night courses for adults to obtain the diploma in various
subjects:
mechanical and electronical
technology;
geometer (surveying);
accounting;
social-psychological-pedagogical
studies;
These courses are completed
in 3 years instead of 5 concentrating on the essential contents for
every subject.
At the end of the third year, there
is a state monitored exam to graduate.
We also offer tutoring outside
of school hours.
Group target: adults students from
23 and up.
Our courses also include professional
training during all 3 years of school.
This is our goal at P.O.L.I.S.
The
courses are flexible and based on the needs of the students.
Students can change courses and receive credit for classes attended
and passed. Work experience can also be considered. Our main objective
is to encourage adults to finish high school and obtain their diploma.
Therefore,
these students will not only have a diploma but will be more
qualified to enter or re-enter the workforce.
P.O.L.I.S. has been
extended all over Piedmont with over 2500 students.
Since 1999,
over 60 students have graduated in our C.T.P. Of those, 29 have
obtained better jobs in their workplace, 15 have gone on to university
and 16 have found a new job pertaining to their diploma.
